Windsor is a wicked hockey town. The list of incredible players who grew up in Windsor is bonkers, let alone those who’ve come through the Spitfires and Lancers organizations. The support for men’s and women’s hockey in Windsor is unparalleled and we couldn’t be happier to have called this town home since 2021.

We’ve got Canadian Beer League and shinny this summer in Windsor:

Canadian Beer League: This summer we’ll be running on Thursday evenings at Central Park Athletics, only this season for the first time we’ll have two different divisions! Divisions are split between “House League” and “Select”. Game times for both divisions will rotate through the same 4 hours so there’s no one division with better times or anything like that.

“House League”, is for players who are likely to score in the 50s and 60s on our CBL Player Rating Quiz. “Select” will be better suited for those who score in the 70s. We will have all players register into one pool, then split down the middle based on skill level, with the higher skilled players placed in Select. Adjustments might be made after the first few games of the season. Players may be moved between divisions, and players may be moved between teams to ensure we’ve done our best to make the divisions appropriate, and the teams as even as can be reasonably expected.

Please note that just because we have a “higher division” now, doesn’t mean that you can be crazy-lights-out-wicked-good at hockey and still fit in, okay? Someday we’ll get a “Rep” division or something like that, but until then we’re still a league for people who aren’t sad that they didn’t make the Olympic team ‘cause they were “so close”. If you’ve played at a high level or you’re scoring well into the 80s on the CBL Player Rating Quiz, you’re not gonna be a good fit and you’re probably gonna be asked to find a new league. We want mostly the same people we’ve had playing with us all along, we’re just gonna split you up into two different groups. Cool? Yay!
