It’s not about the thrill of victory, or the agony of defeat, it’s about moments. The good moments to be remembered, and the bad ones to.. be… what were we talking about again?
Game action outside of practices
Especially for players who want to get some game action outside of practices, BLHP Shinny is a perfect place to hone your craft and gain experience as a player. If you’re not familiar with Shinny (aka “pickup”) it’s very much like pond hockey or street hockey in its loose attitude compared to league games. The basic rules of the game still exist, but the enforcement relies on honour and discretion and not on a referee. There’s a code, and the more you play, the better you’ll understand it.
Make plays, Make friends
We try our best to create groups of similarly-skilled players. Inevitably there is still usually a bit of a disparity, but that’s okay. Less experienced players get a chance to play hard, while more experienced players are expected to adjust their game to the level of competition they’re up against. As Uncle Ben once said, “With great power, comes great responsibility.” The goal is to get out there and have a good skate, make some plays, make some friends, and earn your post-shinny beverages.
